Elgin Farewell

Elgin Farewell is Vice President of the Electronic Search & Registration division of Teranet Inc.
Since joining Teranet in 1997, Farewell has realized success in a variety of key company roles including Vice President of Human Resources and Vice President of Operations. In his current role, Farewell manages the automation and conversion of all land ownership records for the province of Ontario. He also oversees all registration services including Teraview, POLARIS, Writs, Corporate Services, Mapping and document image delivery. Farewell plays a key role in enhancing Teranet’s relationship with the government through a collaborative approach that ensures the integrity and privacy of records managed by Teranet.
Prior to joining Teranet, Farewell served as Land Registrar in the Peel and Hamilton-Wentworth regions and acted as Coordinator for the Electronic Registration initiative in the mid 1990s. Before this, Farewell held a variety of operational and client-facing roles at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Rural Affairs, including Administrator of the Agriculture and Food Laboratories, Administrator of the Agricultural Representatives Branch, and Administrator/Dean of Student Services for Centralia College of Agricultural Technology.
Before joining the Government of Ontario, Farewell was Director of the Alternatives for Youth program and managed an open custody facility for young offenders in the early days of the Young Offenders Act.
A graduate of McMaster University, Farewell holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees. He was also a Bregman Scholar at the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto, where he graduated with a Master of Business Administration in 2005.
