Jay Forbes
President & CEO
Jay Forbes serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Teranet Inc.
Prior to joining Teranet in July 2009, Forbes served as Executive Vice President of Ingram Micro Inc. and President of Ingram Micro Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) from September 2007. There he provided direction for the company’s operations throughout the EMEA region by implementing strategies, driving best practices and supporting profitable growth. Based in Brussels Belgium, Forbes led Ingram Micro’s 15 country operations, a pan-European business unit and a joint venture in South Africa. Operating with 3,500 employees and ten distribution centres, the EMEA region contributed more than US $11 billion in revenues in 2008.
Forbes served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Aliant Inc., a $2 billion information and telecommunications technology company based in Atlantic Canada. Under his leadership, the company successfully executed a transformative strategy to reposition the organization, creating more than $2 billion of value for its shareholders. Previously, he was Executive Vice President, Corporate Resources & CFO of Oxford Properties Group Inc., a leading Canadian commercial property ownership and services company.
From 1993 to 2000, he worked with Emera Inc., where he served in several managerial roles including SVP & CFO. A Chartered Accountant by training, Forbes was with Doane Raymond (now Grant Thorton) Chartered Accountants from 1984 to 1993.
A graduate of Dalhousie University, Forbes holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing. He also completed Duke University’s Strategic Financial Management Program and Harvard University’s Strategic Elements of Financial Management Program. Forbes has been recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 award recipient (1999); Chartered Accountant Fellow (2005); Top 40 Best of the Best – Outstanding Corporate Achievement (2005); and Top 50 CEO award recipient, Atlantic Progress Magazine (2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006).
