Zahir Manek

Zahir Manek is General Counsel of Teranet Inc.

At Teranet, Manek has assisted on a variety of significant matters, such as Teranet's $700 million IPO in June 2006 and its corresponding conversion to an income trust; Teranet's implementation of the City of Toronto's Municipal Land Transfer Tax; and the Borealis' takeover of the Teranet Income Fund.

Prior to joining Teranet in 2004, Manek worked in the IT industry in Los Angeles, California for German software company Native Instruments, considered one of the premier music software developers in the world. While at Native Instruments, he was responsible for legal and management duties for the company in the United States, where he established an American presence through the implementation of a distribution network, sales and support team, and client and supplier relationships.

Before joining Native Instruments Manek was an associate at Stikeman Elliott, where he provided corporate and commercial legal services to a variety of clients including Air Canada, Indigo, CIBC and Nortel.

A graduate of the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, Manek holds a J.D. and was the winner of the Smith Lyons Information Technology Course Prize. He also holds an M.B.A. and Hons. B. Comm. from McMaster University, where he was on the Dean's List. Manek is also a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
