Legal and Quality Assurance
The Legal and Quality Assurance departments act as the technical resources for the implementation sites. They provide legal direction on records interpretation and title issues arising from the search and conversion process. Quality Assurance (QA) reviews are also conducted by this group prior to automation. The key responsibilities of Legal and Quality Assurance include:
- Researching and replying to legal questions submitted by the implementation sites
- Reviewing title deficiency reports prepared at the sites and confirming which lands, due to deficiencies in the records, are to be left in the Registry system
- Providing updates on recent legal decisions and clarifications/changes to implementation procedures and/or policies to legal/technical leads and on-site Quality Assurance staff
- Providing regular input on any projects carried out by Implementation to provide legal opinions and perspectives
- Participating at Site Committee meetings as required to discuss and clarify legal issues that arise in the course of automation
- Performing Quality Analysis on each activation prior to the activation date. The Quality Assurance department samples and evaluates a significant number of PINs each month, the selection of which is based on well-established statistical theory, to confirm the quality of each activation.
Post-Activation Quality Team
Teranet, together with the Ministry of Government Services, recognizes the importance of quality and accuracy in the automated record. To this end, we share the common objective of establishing and confirming an acceptable level of quality and ensuring that all quality issues are quickly and thoroughly addressed.
The Post-Activation Quality Team is comprised of a group of highly skilled individuals with extensive experience in land registration and automation. This group’s primary objective is to work directly with the province’s land registry offices to complete the transition from a paper-based system to an automated environment.
