Who's minding the maps?

The Teranet Map Production group builds and maintains a parcel index mapping database for Ontario. Over 50 highly qualified land information professionals are on staff including Ontario Land Surveyors, mapping technicians and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professionals.  The Map Production group is organized into specialized teams:

• The Quality Control Group administers all mapping contracts, performs quality control checks on all contracted work, and assists the mapping contractors;
• The Map Maintenance and Operations Group supports and updates the map database in accordance with map maintenance requests received from Land Registry Offices, MPAC, and MNR;
• The Post-production Database Group has responsibility for bringing all of the groups’ efforts together to create a topologically clean, seamless map database ready for use in geographic information system applications.

The Mapping Centre works closely with other specialized Teranet personnel to apply technologies to enhance and improve products. These additional Teranet resources include:

• The Map Development Group, that provides technical support and development of software and customized systems to support the Mapping Centre;
• The Map Delivery and Support Group, that has the responsibility for data deliveries to clients and providing support for technical mapping issues; and
• The Marketing and Customer Support Group, that provides pre-sales support to Marketing and post-sales support to clients.
