From Co-op to Career Growth: Spotlight on Sarangi Kumarasamy

Campus Recruitment Program

At Teranet, we believe meaningful early-career experiences can shape the future of both students and organizations. Through our Campus Recruitment Program, students are given the opportunity to build practical experience, expand their skills and contribute in ways that matter. The program is part of how we invest in emerging talent and create opportunities for students to learn, grow and thrive in a professional environment.

That commitment to student development is reflected in the experience of Sarangi Kumarasamy, a McMaster University student in Integrated Business and Humanities, Level V, who joined Teranet in September 2024. Sarangi’s journey is a strong example of how the right environment can help students build confidence, deepen their professional interests and take meaningful steps toward their future careers. We are also proud to share that Teranet was recognized with the DeGroote Internship Employer of the Year – Emerging 2025 award, a recognition nominated by Sarangi.

Meet Sarangi Kumarasamy

What drew you to choose Teranet for your co-op term?

When choosing a 12month coop placement, it was important for me to join a company whose values aligned with my own. I wanted to work in an environment where I could grow personally and professionally while learning about different industries. Teranet offered the ideal setting to strengthen my HR skills while gaining exposure to the technology sector, making it the perfect fit for my goals.

What key lesson have you learned during your time at Teranet?

I’ve learned that kindness is a powerful leadership quality. Before my time at Teranet, I often saw kindness as a potential weakness, but speaking with leaders here demonstrated how essential it is for building trust and creating meaningful impact.

What would you tell other students about Teranet’s campus recruitment program and what they can expect?

Teranet’s Campus Recruitment Program is intentional and thoughtfully designed. Students can expect to be pushed outside their comfort zone, given opportunities to stretch their skills, and supported in their development as emerging professionals.

What is something you’re looking forward to as you continue your career journey at Teranet after graduation?

I’ve learned so much from the team, and I’m excited to continue growing, bringing value back to the organization, and leaning further into my development as an HR professional.

Sarangi’s story speaks to the value of creating space for students to contribute meaningfully while developing the confidence and capabilities that will support them throughout their careers. We’re proud to celebrate her journey and the impact she has made at Teranet.
